U-Values & Part L Compliance

Part L Compliance: ER Certification’s New PLC Scheme for Window & Door Manufacturers
Our strategic partners, E.R. Certification, now offer a dedicated Energy Rating & U‑Value compliance scheme designed specifically for window and door manufacturers seeking to demonstrate conformity with Document L of the UK Building Regulations.

The PLC Scheme (Part L Compliance)

The PLC‑Scheme has been developed to support manufacturers in meeting the enhanced energy‑efficiency requirements introduced under the latest revisions to Part L. With a stronger national focus on reducing carbon emissions and improving building performance, the scheme provides a clear, independently verified route to demonstrating compliance.

What the PLC‑Scheme Covers

1. Comprehensive Energy Performance Evaluation
The scheme delivers a full assessment of Window & Door Energy Ratings (WERs/DERs) and U‑Values, giving manufacturers a robust understanding of the thermal performance of their products.

Because Part L allows two recognised routes to compliance—either through WERs/DERs or U‑Value calculations—the PLC‑Scheme supports the review, validation, and registration of both pathways.

2. Enhanced Regulatory Compliance

By following the Factory Production Control (FPC) requirements defined within the PLC‑Scheme, manufacturers can demonstrate consistent production quality and alignment with the latest Part L standards.

Certification under the scheme provides:

• Independent verification of thermal performance data
• Assurance of consistent, repeatable manufacturing processes
• Clear evidence of compliance for customers, specifiers, and building control
